So...what do the other photographers say about themselves when they post on their websites on the "About" page? How long they have been in business, how many awards they have received, how many associations they belong too, blah, blah, blah. Sure, I could tell you all that too, but maybe your tired of hearing all that stuff and would like to know the real me.
Well, I can start from the beginning and tell you I was born in Bridgeport, CT. My Father was a professional photographer and his business was in our home on Main Street just two doors away from a movie theater called "The Merritt Theater". I grew up going to the movies almost every week and saw the most amazing, then not rated movies of all time. Movies like Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, West Side Story, Splendor in the Grass, The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Movies were my passion and I sat there, sometimes just going by myself, and would drift into another world, getting away from reality.
After graduating high school, I worked as a typist and stenographer for a few years, fell in love and got married at 19 years old. Yeah, you think "Oh my" so young, but in those days people married younger. I had two boys, but my marriage didn't last and we divorced after 9 years. I once again fell in love and married a man named Tom. He was also previously married and had one daughter.
Now, 34 years later, we combined our family and have three children (my two and his one)and three grandchildren ages 10, 8 and 4. Life is good.
Other things that I am passionate about are listening to jazz music, exercising, especially Zumba, dancing and I am also a cat lover, even though I do not have any cats right now. I love traveling. My favorite place is the Bahamas. My favorite colors are black, brown and purple. My favorite TV shows are Desperate Housewives and Being Human.
My passion for photography started about 30 years ago when my husband bought me my first camera. You may think, what a minute...you said your Father was a Professional Photographer...didn't you get your inspiration from him? I was too young to realize at that time growing up watching my Dad work in his darkroom making magic with chemicals and paper, that maybe the profession of taking images would be mine. I guess it was always in my genes, but I wasn't ready yet.
It gradually took hold of me, after winning one photo contest after another and finally working in the profession doing what I love to do, and that is making images for people to cherish for a lifetime...giving people something that would become their heirlooms for generations to come.
Now, if you are still interested in knowing about the other stuff, like awards and my professional history, here it is:
I served as President of the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association (CPPA) from 2007 - 2009, a member of the Professional Photographer's of New England (PPANE) and previously on the board as a director from CT, Professional Photographer's of America (PP of A), and past Alumni President of Professional Photographers of the Bahamas.
Having had the distinct honor of receiving the title of "Photographer of the Year" four years consecutively for 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001, received the title of "Master Photographer of the Year" for 2008, three Kodak Gallery Awards, four Fuji Masterpiece Awards, three Court of Honors, two CPP Certified Highest Score Award, numerous Best in Show awards and the Gemini Cup for the most creative photograph.
I have received numerous Certificates of Achievements for the study of Advanced Wedding Photography and Advanced Children's Photography from the New England Institute of Professional Photography.
So now that you kind of have an idea who I am, I'd like to get to know YOU! It is really about YOU, not me. Let's get together for a visit. We can sit and talk about your expectations and how you envision your wedding day, family portrait, maternity or baby sessions.
